The current co-leader of the 2020 USR-PLUS Alliance "could play an important role" after French MEP Nathalie Loiseau withdrew plans for a candidacy to lead the European Parliament group, ALDE member Jean Arthuis said in a Twitter post.

Earlier this week, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) announced that its European Parliament group, which will consist of an alliance with the French President Emmanuel Macron's En Marche party and USR-PLUS, will be rebranded as Renew Europe for new European legislature.
