In A Neutral State The Parliament Does Not Choose Sides – Romanian Pres

Romanian president Traian Basescu said Tuesday, in an event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and attended by Prime Minister Tariceanu as well, that in a neutral state the Parliament does not issue laws to favor entities and the Government does not negotiate with groups of interests.

In his speech, the head of state presented his vision regarding what should be a modern state. According to him, the state needs to be transparent, predictable, it needs to offer equal opportunity and it needs to be characterized by neutrality.
He added in such a state "the Parliament must not issue laws favoring some and disadvantaging others" and, also, “the Government must not negotiate with groups of interests to the disadvantage of the citizens.”
