Romania’s Petrom 9-Mo Net Pft Up 48% to RON2.29B -2-

Romania’s oil company Petrom SA (SNP.RO) reported a net profit of RON2.29 billion in the first nine months of the year, up 48% compared with RON1.548 billion in the same period a year earlier, the company said in a statement Thursday.

Petrom reported earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization of RON4.23 billion in January-June, up 80% compared with RON3.111 in the same period a year earlier.

In the third quarter alone Petrom’s net profit was down 5% to RON 626 million, from RON 661 million in the June-September 2007.

The company reported a net turnover of RON 13.007 billion in the first nine months, up 50% compared with RON8.672 billion in the year-earlier period
