Romania ArcelorMittal’s Unionists Seek 32.3% Pay Raise

Trade unions with Romanian steel producer ArcelorMittal Galati, unit of UK-based giant ArcelorMittal, on Thursday said will ask for a 32.3% salary raise at the negotiations for the 2009 collective labor contract due for October 24.

The 32.3% salary hike will lead to a gross monthly salary of 1,100 lei (EUR1-RON3.6140) in 2009, from currently RON832, union leader Gheorghe Tiber said.
 
He said unionists will ask for additional bonuses at the negotiations as well.
 
Negotiations for the 2009 collective labor contract between unionists and ArcelorMittal management are scheduled for October 24 at noon.
