Local authorities from three counties in Romania, Hungary and Sweden plan to implement a joint project called “The Fairytale Village” aimed at helping children learn cultural and traditional elements of the three countries.

Romania, Hungary And Sweden To Build “Fairytale Villages”

The project is estimated at EUR1,500,000.
 
The three counties, namely Covasna (Romania), Heves (Hungary) and Varmland (Sweden) were the birthplaces of renowned children’s literature authors: Benedek Elek, Gárdonyi Géza and Selma Lagerlöf, respectively.
 
The “Fairytale Village” will be build in Covasna, and local authorities said they plan to apply for European funds via the 2007-2013 Regional Operational Program (durable development and tourism promotion).
 
The Budapest-based organization "Szülőföld Alap" contributed with 700,000 Hungarian forints (some EUR2,544) to the feasibility study.
