Romania Registers 12 AH1N1 Deaths, 3,842 Infections

Two people infected with the AH1N1 virus have died over the past 24 hours in Romania and the country has registered 49 new cases of infection during the same interval, taking the total number to 12 deaths and 3,842 infections, the Health Ministry said in a news release Sunday.

The Health Ministry said the two people who died also suffered from high blood pressure, obesity and severe polyarthritis.

Of the 49 newly registered infections, counties Arad and Harghita registered two cases each, counties Brasov, Hunedoara and Iasi reported three cases each, counties Botosani and Sibiu – five cases each, Vaslui county – four cases, counties Bacau and Dolj – six cases each, Mures county- seven cases, Braila, Calarasi and Dambovita – one case each.

Romania started a national vaccination campaign last week using the locally-produced vaccine.
