Romania’s Senate Validates New MP Mandates

The Romanian Senate validated in its plenary meeting Friday morning, by majority of votes, the mandates of its members elected in the parliamentary polls on November 30.

The Senate adopted the report of the Validation Committee formed of 15 senators, which was presented by the head of the committee, democrat liberal senator-elect Constantin Dumitru.

Dumitru said in the plenary meeting that in-depth check-ups revealed the election process of all senators observed the legal provisions and recommended their mandates be validated.

He added the committee received no appeals in this respect.
