British Ambassador Martin Harris said the port of Constanta has great potential for the region's economic development, but that in order to maximize this potential, Romania needs to modernize the rail and road infrastructure connecting to the port.

According to a Ministry press release, Boagiu said the Pitesti-Bucharest-Constanta highway might be completed by 2011, as well as a direct railway route between Bucharest and Constanta. "Mr Harris stressed the fact that the new government in London wants to play an active role in Europe and Romania is seen by Great Britain as an important partner," says the press release.

Boagiu also talked with Dutch Ambassador Tanya Van Gool about a memorandum of understanding between the ports of Constanta and Rotterdam.
