The Romanian government would like the minority Romanian community in Hungary to benefit from laws similar to Romanian minorities laws, currently under debate in Parliament, Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said Wednesday.

The premier added he hopes the law on minorities will see some consensus in parliament, and Romania would have a single law grouping all the norms regarding minorities.
 
"I hope the Romanian minority in Hungary gets the same kind of legislative expression," Tariceanu said.
 
The Romanian and Hungarian cabinets met Wednesday in Sibiu, central Romania, to discuss developments of the transport infrastructure in the two states, the joint construction of a high-speed railway line on the route Budapest-Bucharest-Constanta, and an agreement for the extension of the sectors in which Romanians might be employed in Hungary without a labor permit, support for Romania’s adhesion to the Schengen area, and the highlight of the cultural patrimony of Romanians in Hungary, respectively that of the Magyar minority in Romania.
