Romanian Cos Benefit From RON2.38B In State Aid – Privatization Auth

Romania’s privatization authority AVAS has granted so far state aid worth 2.38 billion lei (EUR1-RON4.2729) to 80 companies, AVAS president Mircea Ursache said Wednesday.

“The Competition Council issued so far, at our request, 80 decisions to approve individual state aid that (…) reach RON2.38 billion, approximately EUR600 million,” Ursache said.

The 80 beneficiaries pledged to invest a total of RON6.5 billion, three fold the value of the overall state aid they received, Ursache mentioned.

He said the state aid mostly targeted reviving banking companies.

The state aid consisted in financial facilities, redistributions and state aid schemes in respect of reorganization programs.
