Democrat leader Emil Boc said the party completed the draft Monday morning.

The draft stipulates a 15% reduction in the current number of lawmakers to 127 members of Senate (10 members less) and 254 members of the Chamber of Deputies (60 members less).

The normative act sets that a senator may be elected by 180,000 voters, while a deputy may be elected by 90,000 voters.

Boc added the party would like the further introduction of a provision allowing citizens to sack lawmakers, adding the Constitution does not currently allow such moves.

He added PD would discuss with all parliament parties to promote the uninominal voting system proposed in the Nov. 25 referendum.

The referendum, for the introduction of the president’s proposed majority uninominal voting system, will not be validated as the vote turnout was below 30%. The turnout should have been of 50% plus one to meet validation conditions.
