Prosecutors of the Criminal Investigation Division initiated on August 14 the probe against Musca Monica Octavia, under charges of false testimony, stipulated by article 292 of the Criminal Code.
"In her position as lawmaker in the Romanian Parliament, she wrote a statement on March 23, 2006, denying her collaboration with the communist era police, which proved to be false,” the Public Ministry said.
Musca resigned from Parliament in March after the Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected her appeal on the CNSAS decision which exposed her as a collaborator of the communist secret service. Musca also quit the Democratic Liberal Party following the CNSAS decision.
Ex-lawmaker Mona Musca said on August 25 she does not plan to run again for a seat in Parliament, either with the Democratic Liberal Party or any other party, as she lost her faith in the system.
