"The motion will likely be put to the vote next Wednesday, March 16," she said.

Prime Minister Emil Boc asked for lawmakers' confidence vote Tuesday to pass the country's new Labor Code, which, he said, makes the local labor market more flexible and serves the interests of people willing to work.

Opposition parties did not attend Tuesday's plenary meeting and said they will submit a motion of no confidence, in an attempt to overthrow the Government.

Boc, whose government has survived several votes of no-confidence the opposition initiated over austerity measures, said the opposition's motion of no-confidence over the Labor Code is unlikely to be adopted.

Representatives of the opposition too have said their motion has little chance of being adopted.
