Romanian President Estimates Elections Will Be Validated Around Dec 6

Romanian President Traian Basescu said Friday he estimates the result of parliamentary elections due Nov 30 will be validated by the Central Electoral Office around Dec 6, and consultations with parties will begin immediately to determine parliament majority and form a new government.

"I estimate election results will be validated by the Central Electoral Office around December 6,” Basescu said, highlighting “that is just an estimate, considering elections in 2004 were held on November 28 and were validated on December 6”.

The head of state added that consultations with political parties may start only after elections are validated, according to the Constitution.
