“Monica Iacob Ridzi came to DNA (for hearings – e.n.), and I have sent a request to Prosecutor General, Laura Codruta Kovei, to launch investigation proceedings. Six other people were charged in the case,” Morar said in a show on Realitatea TV channel.

Ridzi stepped down as youth and sports minister on July 14, following corruption allegations. Ridzi said she wanted to protect the reputation of the government and of her own Liberal Party (PNL).

Ridzi is accused of alleged misappropriation of state funds in connection to her organizing the festivities on the “Youth Day” on May 2.
