More than one third of Bucharest citizens are displeased with the quality of public transportation and want single lanes for traffic and more means of transportation at rush hours.

Romanian Transport Ministry and U.S. construction giant Bechtel agreed to give up the advance payment for this year’s works at the country’s biggest highway project, Transylvania, Transport Minister Radu Berceanu said Thursday.

Romania’s Ministry of Transportation on Tuesday rejected a unions’ proposition to eliminate the road toll, arguing the tax is the only revenue source for the roads authority CNADNR, the ministry said in a statement.

The A2 highway, linking Bucharest to southeastern Constanta, and most national roads will be reopened Friday and air traffic will also go back to normal, transports minister Ludovic Orban said Friday.
