Grindeanu: The pay law is “sublime”; the problem is that it “is completely absent”

PSD President Sorin Grindeanu criticizes the lack of a public draft of the new salary law, just a few hours before the meeting at Cotroceni Palace and ten days before the PNRR deadline.

“The pay law is sublime—some say—but the problem is that it’s completely missing!” said Sorin Grindeanu.

The PSD leader argues that the draft has not been presented to employees, unions, or political parties, and asserts that, under these circumstances, there can be no political agreement on it.

“There are still a few hours until the meeting at Cotroceni and 10 days until the PNRR deadline, and no one has seen a draft. We have a law for employees, without the employees knowing anything about it. Without the unions knowing anything. Without the political parties knowing what calculations are being prepared for the revenues of key systems. “There’s no way there can be a political agreement on a law that no one has seen,” Grindeanu stated on Facebook.

The PSD president says the party will participate in the consultations at Cotroceni, but notes that the party is surprised by reports of “offers too good to refuse” for employees, given that the pay scales have not been made public.

“The PSD will be present at the meeting at Cotroceni out of respect for Romanians and for the Presidential Administration, under whose auspices these discussions were convened,” he stated.

Grindeanu also criticizes the way in which the PNL and USR allegedly negotiated with the European Commission regarding the commitments in the PNRR.

According to the PSD leader, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, did not travel to Brussels for negotiations with European Commission representatives but instead submitted a draft law, for which he subsequently faced criticism.

In contrast, Grindeanu maintains that the PSD has successfully renegotiated certain provisions of the PNRR in the past, citing the 9.4% threshold for pensions, funding allocations for highways, and the extension of the operational life of certain energy facilities.

“The PSD does not have a draft wage law. We will only support a clear law, based on fairness, in which employees do not lose any of their current income!” concluded Sorin Grindeanu.
