Govt:Democrat Liberals’ Motion On Romanian Heating Sys Looses Justification

The Romanian executive Sunday said the democrat liberals’ motion on thermal energy issue has lost its justification, as local authorities will get additional funds of 200 million lei (EUR1-RON3.6059) to compensate fuel price hikes.

The government said in a statement that the additional money was approved in its meeting on September 3 “to compensate the price hike of the fuel necessary for supplying thermal power to household consumers during wintertime.”

The funds will add to the RON285 million already allocated to the local authorities.

Therefore, the motion filed in parliament by the Democratic Liberal Party warning about a possible crisis in the thermal energy field “looses its justification,” the government said.

Democrat liberal deputies on Wednesday filed a simple motion called “The Romanian population will remain without heat in winter. The crisis of the public thermal heating system.”

The motion is to be debated in the Chamber of Deputies on September 8.
