Negotiations between EU and the U.S. on visa exemptions were subject to a debate in the European Parliament Wednesday ahead of a key summit on 9-10 June, EP said in a statement Thursday.

The European Parliament wants visa requirements lifted “immediately” for all EU nations under the same conditions, the statement noted.
The MEPs welcomed the EU-U.S. debates on the new American security measures in view of implementing a visa-free regime and said negotiations should be transparent, mutual and under EU directives concerning data protection.
The European Parliament also said it “looks forward, in the light of the forthcoming US presidential election, to working with the new US President and hopes for a strengthened US commitment to multilateralism and to peace and democracy worldwide.”
