Romanian Football Legend Hagi Appointed UNICEF Ambassador

Romania’s retired star footballer Gheorghe Hagi was appointed Monday ambassador for children’s rights organization UNICEF Romania.

Hagi said his partnership with UNICEF won’t be impaired by his career as a football coach.

"I’m very honored to be part of UNICEF. I’m ready to work with the organization and contribute all I can to stand by children. Children deserve any effort on out part,” Hagi said.

Other football celebrity turned UNICEF ambassadors include Ronaldinho (AC Milan), Samuel Eto'o (FC Barcelona), David Beckham (LA Galaxy), Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) and Francesco Totti (AS Roma).
