Romanian labor minister Paul Pacuraru said that the debates between government officials and unionists on Monday digressed from the initial topics, such as lowering employees’ contributions to the state, even if this was one of the main issues on the meeting agenda.

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu did not honor the request of president Traian Basescu regarding the dismissal of ministers Chiuariu and Pacuraru, feeling that the head of state has constitutional procedures for such cases, sources within Tariceanu’s office told MEDIAFAX.

Romanian president Traian Basescu asked Prime Minister Calin Popescu tariceanu, in a letter dated November 29, to immediately dismiss justice minister Tudor Chiuariu and labor minister Paul Pacuraru, for whom there was a request for criminal investigation.

Romanian foreign affairs minister Adrian Cioroianu met with French counterpart Bernard Kouchner, who asked for Romanian support for the international mission in Chad, with troops and material. The request will be analyzed by the Romanian Administration, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.
