Romanian PM Did Not Honor Pres Request

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu did not honor the request of president Traian Basescu regarding the dismissal of ministers Chiuariu and Pacuraru, feeling that the head of state has constitutional procedures for such cases, sources within Tariceanu’s office told MEDIAFAX.

"Given the reasons presented in the letter, the Prime Minister did not honor the request, reasoning his decision. Traian Basescu has constitutional procedures that allow him to make adequate decisions in such cases," said the quoted sources.

Tariceanu replied to president Basescu, rejecting the accusations formulated by the head of state, and the request for dismissal, official sources previously told MEDIAFAX.

In his letter, Tariceanu rejects all the accusations, saying that, personally, he has other priorities, regarding the economic and social situation.
