Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan says that, six months after taking office, he has managed to stabilize the energy market, avoid significant price increases for the population and the economy, and accelerate investments and payments to beneficiaries.

The Romanian Government plans to write off debts accumulated by thermal power plants by June 30, 2009, totaling 536.4 million lei (EUR1= RON4.2673), including the fiscal obligations not paid for foreign loans taken with state guarantee, in order to ensure heat supply through the winter.
