 Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan warned on Monday that Romania must utilize all available resources to avoid issues this winter. According to the minister, it is imperative to keep the coal-fired power plants operational to ensure a safe winter.

Romania’s power output dropped by 0.9% on the year in January-July, while the country’s total power resources dropped 1.1% on the year in the same period, the National Statistics Institute said Wednesday.

Canadian company Gabriel Resources allotted a EUR27.3 million budget for the Rosia Montana project in 2010, a sum required for asset maintenance and the environment impact study.

Romania’s power output rose 4.1% on the year in January-April, while the country’s total power resources rose 2% on the year in the same period of 2008, the National Statistics Institute said Thursday.
