Topoloveni Plum Jam, First Romanian Product Entered In EU Quality Register

The Topoloveni plum jam is the first Romanian product registered in the EU system protecting geographical indications and designations of origin for agricultural products and foodstuffs.

„Romania has local agricultural and food traditions with exceptional potential. The European recognition of the Topoloveni jam is a first step, an open path to promoting and protecting Romanian products,” said EU Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos.

According to the release, guaranteeing the quality of products represents one of the objectives of the European policy for food quality launched by the European Commission in December 2010.
