The government said it would analyze the issue of financing lifeguard services in the cabinet meeting next week and will assign the necessary funds.

The heads of companies ensuring lifeguard services on Romanian beaches in all resorts except Mamaia, where local authorities funded the services, decided to start a go-slow strike next week unless the government assigns funds, and ultimately resort to a general strike.

Local authorities in Mamaia funded lifeguard services and are to recover the money at the government’s planned budget revision.

The government issued a statement Friday saying it might assign the funds in the cabinet meeting next week. A draft government decision in this respect is already pending approval from the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Interior, the statement added.
