General Prosecutor: DNA To Handle Tel Drum EU Funds Embezzlement Case

In a statement, the general prosecutor announced that offences which are pursued in the case are not related to other accusations made in an anonymous denunciation filed with the Section for Investigating Judicial Offences, which made multiple requests to take over the case

DNA interim chief Calin Nistor recently announced that he notified the general prosecutor to decide competency for prosecution in the case, after the special section formulated several requests to take it over for suspected offences involving magistrates.

Social Democrat Party and Lower Chamber Chairman Liviu Dragnea is investigated in the case for establishing an organized crime group, abuse of office and EU funds embezzlement, as prosecutors suspect him of favoring Teleorman county infrastructure company Tel Drum in granting public contracts during the time he served as the county’s council chairman.
