King Mihai Awarded “Honorary Member” Of Romanian Academy

King Mihai of Romania on Tuesday was awarded “honorary member” of the Romanian Academy for remarkable merits in preserving the Romanian identity.

King Mihai was presented with the award during an event celebrating 142 years since the establishment of the Romanian Academy.
 
“I am thankful for an historic restoration made at the anniversary of the Academy, by resuming the ties between the Royal House and the Academy. I am glad that, both the Royal House and the academic institution managed to resist time and remain lasting symbols of Romanian values,” King Mihai said.
 
Romania’s former sovereign was accompanied by Princess Margareta of Romania and Prince Radu.
