Moldovan President Says Romanian Ambassador To Leave Country In 24 Hrs

Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin required Romanian ambassador to Chisinau Filip Teodorescu to leave Moldova in 24 hours, after he was declare persona non grata, Interfax reported.

Voronin said during a meeting with representatives of the civil society that Romania is involved in the anticommunist street riots that occurred and continue in the Moldovan capital. He also said the Romanian ambassador was declared persona non grata and Moldova would reintroduce travel visas for Romanians.

Nearly all border crossing points between Romania and Moldova have been closed and about 300 people, including journalists, were denied access into Moldova in the past 24 hours.
