Over 94% Of Romanian Financial Guard Employees Passed Evaluation

As part of the reorganization of tax authority ANAF, 1063 employees of the Financial Guard's total staff of 1383 received prior notice of termination and were to be evaluated, but only 740 had to actually take the exam, as the rest were transferred to positions for which a single candidate had opted.

ANAF president Sorin Blejnar said in late June that at least 291 employees will leave the Guard following the evaluation. This means that 249 employees will be laid off, apart from the 42 who failed the test. A further 42 people did not attend the exam and ANAF will determine whether their absence was justified and whether they can sit the evaluation again.

According to the restructuring plan, the Financial Guard should have no more than 1,092 filled positions, compared to the current 1,383.

Employee evaluations in the National Customs Authority will begin next week and will be followed by similar examinations in local public finance departments across the country. After it is restructured, the Customs Authority will have no more than 3,159 positions, down 31% from its current maximum of 4,586.

In early June, the government decided to cut 4,927 jobs in ANAF, including 1,200 filled positions, as well as 1,427 jobs in the Customs Authority (including 600 filled) and 713 in the Financial Guard (including 300 filled).
