Until 2010, people with serious and accentuated disabilities were exempt from paying taxes on salaries and pensions.

According to ANPH, the Government decided in October 2009, by amending the Fiscal Code, to eliminate starting January 1, 2010 article 26 of Law 448/2006 exempting people with disabilities from paying taxes on salaries and pensions.

ANPH president Ioana Lese told MEDIAFAX she urged the Finance Ministry to look into ways to solve this issue, adding the ministry representatives gave assurances the problem will be solved with the next amendment of the Fiscal Code.
