Romania’s New Environment Min Promises Clunkers Program Start On Jan 1, ‘10

Romania’s new environment minister, Laszlo Borbely, promised Wednesday upon being sworn in, that the 2010 edition of the Romanian clunkers program will begin on January 1 for cars and “as soon as possible” for tractors.

"The Rabla program will begin on January 1, 2010, the minister order is ready, it will be signed and I assure you we will commence it as soon as the new year starts," Borbely said.

Regarding the financing of tractor replacement through the program, Borbely said this segment of the program will start with a slight delay compared to the car segment, since it requires a series of additional documents and approvals.

"However, I assure you that this segment will commence as soon as possible," Borbely said.
