Romania’s Rompres Receives Green Light To Go Back To Former Name

News agency Agerpres, which operated during the former communist regime, ceased to exit on January 2, 1990, soon after the Romanian revolution of December 1989.

Rompres was officially founded on January 8, 1990.

The draft allowing Rompres to go back to its old name was already adopted in the Senate.

According to the draft’s initiators, going back to the name of Agerpres is motivated by the “long tradition, of over 50 years, of the Agerpres name".
