Romania Senate: Child-Rearing Benefits To Be Paid Within 60 Days Since Submission Of Applications

Romanian senators on Monday decided the payment of child-rearing benefits and state allowances for children will be made within 60 days since the submission of applications.

Senators on Monday adopted, with the amendments proposed by the Senate's labor committee, a legislative proposition amending Government Emergency Ordinance no. 148/2005 supporting families in child rearing.

Senators rejected, however, a proposition which sets that exceeding the 60-day legal deadline shall be deemed contravention and punished with fines ranging from 500 lei (EUR1=RON4.2465) and RON1,000, depending on the number of days of delay.

The Senate was the first chamber notified on the draft law.
