Romania’s former transport minister Miron Mitrea said Thursday after he met anticorruption prosecutors that he took note of the charges bright against him in the file probing him alongside former prime minister Adrian Nastase.

He added he presented prosecutors with a short statement claiming his innocence.
 
In September 2007, the National Anticorruption Department, or DNA, asked President Traian Basescu to approve the start of a criminal probe against the former minister.
 
Basescu in January asked interim justice minister Teodor Melescanu to start  procedures for criminal probes against former prime minister Adrian Nastase, former transport minister Miron Mitrea, former justice minister Tudor Chiuariu, acting labor minister Paul Pacuraru, former communication minister Zsolt Nagy, former defense minister Victor Babiuc, former economy minister Codrut Seres and former agriculture minister Traian Decebal Remes.
