Romanian FM, U.S. Embassy To Set Off Information Campaign On Non-Immigrant Visas

The ministry also said the campaign is a new step taken by Romanian authorities in a move to meet the criteria included in the Visa Waiver program and will further lead to a decrease in the visa rejection rate.

"The ministry and the U.S. Embassy will disseminate relevant information and useful advice within the campaign with respect to the procedures needed to apply for non-immigrant (travel, study or work etc.) visas to the U.S. and the criteria for U.S. visa eligibility assessment," the press release also reads.

The campaign is meant to support non-immigration visa applicants, allowing them to assess, to a certain extent, their visa eligibility and the way they can prove, based on "strong ties to the origin country," that they will not engage in any activity in the U.S. except for what is allowed by the visa. Under the U.S. laws, all foreign citizens applying for non-immigrant visas are deemed prospective immigrants.

The campaign will be launched during an event that will be attended by Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi and U.S. Ambassador to Romania, Mark Gitenstein.
