For the 2008 local elections, held in two rounds, the Government allotted RON66 million, while in 2004, it allocated RON32 million.

The first round of this year's local elections will be held on June 10.

At the end of last year, the Government gained a confidence vote in Parliament to merge this year's local and parliamentary elections, but the Constitutional Court found the bill was illegal, and elections will be held separately. (EUR1=RON4.3575)
