Romania’s decentralization process will allow local authorities to manage local departments and units of central government structures, such as farming departments, local auto registry departments, hospitals, ports, airports and will imply amending the country’s main administrative laws.

Romanian Govt To Let Local Authorities Manage Ports, Airports, Hospitals, Auto Registry Departments

The decentralization process will transfer onto local authorities attributions in sectors such as education, healthcare, public order, culture, social assistance, transports and agriculture, according to a government document obtained by MEDIAFAX.

Decentralization will imply amendments to the law regarding local public administration, prefects, the statute of public servants, the statute of local elect officials and the law on public property. Decentralization strategies will be drafted by May 4.
