Stoltenberg: Romania’s Multinational Brigade,Only Part Of NATO’s Response To A More Assertive Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Monday that Romania’s Multinational Brigade is only part of NATO’s response to a more assertive Russia and that it sends a clear message from NATO that an attack against an ally, against Romania, will be perceived as an attack against the entire Alliance.

Stoltenberg said that besides the Brigade, NATO consolidated its presence in the airspace with air patrolling missions, with contributions from Italy and Canada, as well as the naval presence in the Black Sea, by conducting maritime exercises and using more ships.

The Secretary General mentioned that NATO’s capacity to deploy forces has increased three times and that the relation between the Alliance and the Romanian forces has consolidated through the establishment of new headquarters in Bucharest.
