Victims of domestic violence will no longer have to pay court fees for divorce and property division petitions, according to a bill initiated by Alina Gorghiu, chair of the Joint Special Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate, titled "Romania without Domestic Violence."

The Romanian Parliament adopted on Tuesday, in a joint session of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, the Declaration “Romania without domestic violence”, through which it firmly condemns all forms of violence against women, children and other family members.

Romania sees 25% more cases of women who were victims of domestic violence in the first nine months of the year, compared to the number reported in 2007, Mihaela Mostavi, head of the National Agency for Family Protection, said Tuesday, at the start of a campaign against domestic violence.
