Only 3.0% of new cars registered in Romania in 2024 were 100% electric, according to the latest Eurostat data. At EU level, the percentage was 13.6%, down from the previous year.

 The Mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță, announced the installation of 50 new high-power charging stations for electric cars. The network will allow the simultaneous charging of 100 vehicles and will complement the 35 points already existing in the sector.

Romania’s Environment Ministry is working on a government emergency decree whereby the Government would grant incentives to people buying electric cars, to cover the price difference between regular and electric vehicles, which is currently of abut EUR5,000.

Four electric cars and 750 hybrids have been registered and licensed in Romania, out of a total 134 electric vehicles and 756 hybrids, the Romanian Auto Registry told MEDIAFAX.
