PSD firmly supports Justice Minister Radu Marinescu and condemns the plagiarism accusations, which it considers a political attack aimed at undermining the legal procedures for appointing high-ranking prosecutors. The party reaffirms that its support for the minister is total.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said on Friday, during an event at the Western University in Timisoara, that plagiarism is a form of thievery, which helps “thieves” climb to important administration offices due to societal and academic tolerances towards the phenomenon.

Romania's National Council of Degree and Diploma Certification (CNATDCU) decided Friday that Prime Minister Victor Ponta plagiarized his PhD thesis, and asked the Education Ministry to withdraw his doctorate degree.
