The Union of Musicians and Performers of Romania announces, on Monday, the launch of the 12th edition of the competition for the award of UNIMIR Scholarships, intended for young musicians, performers and conductors.

The Romanian Government is considering eliminating senior discounts for public road and railway transport, reducing scholarships for students, performance allowances and life annuities, and also eliminating the financial aid granted for the purchase of textbooks.

Nearly 150 young Romanian university students have benefited over the past five years from the Romanian Government Special Scholarships, but none have so far been employed by the state in public institutions, although students are compelled by contract to work in the public sector.
