The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) has granted bonuses totaling 43.5 million lei for 78,322 taxpayers who paid their income tax and social contributions in advance, within the deadline set for April 15.

462,000 inactive taxpayers owe the state budget 3.5 billion lei, said Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare on Wednesday, proposing a mechanism to dissolve companies that have not been active. "We have found companies that have been inactive for 15 years," the minister said.

Romanian large and medium taxpayers will submit their fiscal statements online as of October 1, through the National Electronic System (SEN), the Ministry of Communications announced Thursday.

About 90% of taxpayers in Romania pay their dues on time, compared to just 66% in 2005, Daniel Chitoiu, head of the Romanian fiscal authority ANAF, said Thursday.
