Romanian President: Country’s Adoption Law Will Not Change During My Term

A petition for the reopening of international adoptions inRomania was dismissed on March 23 on the request of Romanian MEPVictor Bostinaru, unanimously backed by the European Parliament'sPetition Committee.

Bostinaru argued at the time that, before accession, theEuropean Union itself requested that Romania ban internationaladoptions and the move was welcomed by the European Parliament andEuropean Commission. He added that any attempt to put this topicback on the agenda of EU institutions, or to pressure Romania mustbe speedily and firmly rebutted.
