President Speaks To Social Partners On Romania’s Econ Status

Romanian President Traian Basescu presented the country’s economic situation and external circumstances to representatives of employers' associations and trade unions, in a meeting at the Finance Ministry Wednesday.

After leaving the meeting between the Cabinet and the social partners, Basescu said he went to the meeting to show "the reality in which Romania’s economy is developing."

According to Basescu, the recession in the main EU countries, which represent Romania’s main export market, will be very harsh.

The president pointed out that, in this context, the effects upon Romanian economy will consist in a sharp decrease in exports, which may lead to unemployment.
