The project is part of a wider investment plan and the company will invest EUR10 million in the first stage, until the second quarter of 2019.

The new Romanian production capacity will primarily serve the increased demand in the Central European markets. The manufacture will start with DELTABEAM® Frame components: DELTABEAM® Composite Beams and composite columns and other steel structures needed in the building frame. Later on, the facilities will enable Peikko to expand the product range to concrete connections technology.

“Peikko needs to build up new capacities to meet the high and increasing demand of its DELTABEAM® Frame solution. The Romanian operations enable us to reach our turnover target of EUR250 million by year 2020. We are building a highly competent team and a strong manufacturing unit in Romania,” said Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation.

The seller of the premises is the Romanian subsidiary of SSAB.

The purchased real estate totals 90,000 sqm containing 30,000 sqm of modern production facilities, accompanied with 60,000 sqm of paved yard for warehousing purposes.

The premises were built in 2007 for the manufacture of steel structures. The production halls are equipped with modern overhead cranes and a painting line, which can be directly utilized in Peikko’s planned operations. Sections of the large facilities can be taken into use step-by-step, which enables Peikko to gradually build up the production capacity of the new Romanian unit.

The company will generate at least 50 new jobs in the first quarter of 2019, with the potential to reach 300 employees by the end of 2020.
