Two-thirds of the employees of Enel Dobrogea, Enel Banat, Enel Energie Bucharest and Enel Servicii Comune Bucharest demanded a 12% wage increase, with 5 percentage points more than the 7% offered by the company managements.

Union leader Adolf Muresan said talks with the company managements will take place later Monday to discuss the wage claims.

“We’re waiting and hoping we can reach an agreement to avoid going on a general strike, which would cause huge losses,” Muresan said.

The unions threatened further protest actions on Mar. 19 and Mar. 21 and a general strike on Mar. 24 if no agreement is reached.
