Romanian bank Banca Comerciala Carpatica Sibiu (BCC.RO) on Monday said its clients were targeted by a phishing attack on the Internet, via email messages.

On the emails, the clients were given a link that took them to a spoof banking website that looked exactly like the legitimate one.
 
Carpatica said it took immediate measures to block the attack and that the bank’s security has not been breached.
 
Carpatica reminded its clients that it never requested sensitive data by email.
 
Phishing scams involve email messages sent out to as many Internet email addresses that the fraudster can obtain, claiming to come from legitimate organizations such as banks, online payment services, retailers etc. The emails are meant to trick clients into revealing personal information, such as log-on details and passwords, in order to steal their identity.
