Romania’s national meteorological authority extended the yellow code weather warning for five counties until Saturday at noon, and issued a red code warning for floods on the river Siret in the northeastern part of the country.

Meteorologists forecast that rain will exceed 25-30 liters per square meter in counties Suceava, Botosani, Maramures, Neamt and Bistrita-Nasaud, while in some areas the quantity of rain might exceed 40-50 liters per square meter.

The weather warning for Mures, Harghita, Covasna, Bacau, Vrancea and Iasi, and the orange code flood warning on river Prut was lifted Friday at noon.

Numerous localities in Maramures and in Suceava counties were severely affected by floods.
